The Art of African Fashion (AAF) connects African and diaspora fashion designers with international markets through curated showcases and strategic market access programs. Founded by Rouge Palette in 2022, AAF has produced pop-up events in Stockholm, Sweden and Accra, Ghana, featuring designers from Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Tanzania and South Africa. These showcases challenge the fashion industry's tendency to position African creativity as "ethnic" or "other," instead presenting collections on the same terms as any international brand—through quality, innovation, and design perspective.
Our work creates practical pathways into global markets, documents designer stories, and builds knowledge-sharing networks. We focus on regions where African fashion has been underrepresented but holds significant commercial potential and cultural receptivity exists.
AAF aims to become the primary pathway for African fashion brands entering international markets outside traditional fashion capitals. By focusing on cities like Stockholm, Copenhagen and Toronto we're creating opportunities where African designers have been historically absent, and promoting local desire and appreciation of MI/BA* products. We're also building both immediate market access and long-term knowledge infrastructure, ensuring African fashion brands have the tools, networks, and strategic support to succeed globally.
